That's what Mississippi does for the high school championship games in football and basketball and for all classifications too. They are carried all over the state on Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB).....They even carried the high school football all star game this past weekend.

At least they were better than the regular season broadcasts. All those cut aways to principals and sponsors during the regular season go on without showing the plays. They will cut away to a sponsor and come back three plays later. During the Capitol game they missed two fumbles. By the way 'losi and Smoothie King were one of the interviews.

Didn't get a chance at the meeting to talk to a couple of people who I know would have the answers. The meeting included the annual awards banquet. We ended up having three times the people we normally have with a dozen players, their parents, principals, etc...Things were a little bit crazy. I am going to try again in the next few weeks.

The fact KNOE attempted to broadcast the game but it's calls to CST were not returned makes this a very interesting story. CST is fully aware of the LHSAA's concerns about attendance.

    Re: Superdome games on TV

I hate to resurrect this thread but, I have a "source" who works for LHSAA and he has told me that they WANT the games on TV up here but apparently Rod Mickler (the CEO of CST) has some kind of beef with the Monroe media industry. They have also had issues with CST failing to broadcast the "game of the week" in north Louisiana and even the Northshore area for reasons only known to CST. This season, they featured the Independence-Amite game and it wasn't seen in either city due to CST. Henderson has said that as long as they don't LOSE money, that he wants all of the championship games on live TV all over the state. He admits that Henderson and LHSAA should address this issue in a better manner in the future and make sure that CST cooperates with the Monroe market so that the games are televised up here. He also said that they have discussed broadcasting games on LPB or even starting their own LHSAA television network in the future as other states have done, however they are too busy catching up from Tommy Henry's regime to begin such an expensive venture right now. He also emphasized that the state championships ARE a "fundraiser" for LHSAA as they account for approximately 60% of their revenue and they are NOT funded by the state. However, this doesn't mean that they are intentionally blacking out the games in north Louisiana in order to make money, because it is purely CST's decision.

    Good job.
Our local West Monroe station, TV-17, carries WM's coaches show and rebroadcast as many games as they can.
They offered to carry the WM-Rummel game, and it would be seen on the Comcast channel 78, and here is the response from a Cox person: Thanks for the interest in these games but these are going to be exclusive to CST.

It DOES sound to me like Cox is playing politics with the state high school association's event. If they weren't wouldn't they WANT to sell their broadcast to anyone interested?? They should've picked out a Monroe station to deal with and a Shreveport station and made the sales.

This CAN BE a excellent revenue stream for Henderson's "fund-raiser". All he has to do is start the talks with production companies and Cox will easily start changing their tune. Come out with the specs of what Henderson wants to accomplish and let the bidding begin. This Tommy Henry good ol' boy networking within the LHSAA might finally come tumbling down.

One good reason the LHSAA needs this revenue?

Any guesses on where the money goes?
