In a perfect world, the Pilots would go away and we would all be Bulldogs. Most satellite campuses retain their mascot and teams, though.

I know here in Texas there is Texas State (satellite in Round Rock), UNT, and I think UH has more than one campus in the same county.

A perfect example is that Auburn has the Auburn-Montgomery satellite campus, which has about half the students as Auburn, is an hour away and in a city about the size of Shreveport.

    Does Auburn-Mongomery have athletics?

There are lots of examples in Texas, but they all have their own athletic teams - UT Arlington, UT Tyler, UTSA, etc....

    Re: Tech/Lsus/Lsuhsc merger

1st of all - no way does LSUHSC get away from LSU and get into this deal....and even if it was part of the deal I do not know if we have the horses to fight Tulane in the funding wars. LSU has to fight to get dollars away from Tulane medical and research every year.....do we want that heartburn? It has gotten real ugly between those two schools on the medical front.

2nd, I am all for getting the hell out of the UL system.....but not sure if I want to be a little fish in LSU's little pond for the LSU system. LSU has looked at our university moving over to the LSU system in the past - it could not be done because our numbers prop up the UL system so much that nearly every key ratio and measurement for the UL system would immediately deteriorate to unsatisfactory levels if we were to leave. UL system administrators made sure we were not going anywhere - but we did not require the carrot (shame on us). LSU would have to give us some major immediate concessions and funding to make me comfortable as a part of their system.

3rd - I am more comfortable with us and UL-L leaving the UL system and having our own oversight and board. We are the only 2 schools pulling our own weight in the UL system with UL-L a distant 2nd. This would leave the rest of the UL system to die.....

another point left out of my previous post............the more we venture into the medical aspects of micro and nano engineering, the more that LSU will look at that part of our university and our university as a whole........the investment to our immediate east of campus only makes it tougher or impossible for lsu to segment out one or two programs....which was surely their mindset in the past.

LOL, someone must have gotten in Glovers ear after the Monday meeting and told him he would blow any chance of any merger if he kept trying to stomp out the idea of Tech being involved.

The University of Houston has three campuses in the Houston area - Main Campus, U of H - Clear lake, & U of H - Downtown. I think they also have something south of Houston in either Richmond or Victoria. None of those campuses have athletics, though - the downtown campus may have some pick up basketball, but that would be it!

Med Center isn't part of the merger guys, just LSUS. Two totally separate divisions of LSU System. The recommendation before the committee is to make LSUS into a joint Tech/NSU campus (kind of like what's going on at IUPUI).

Read the article LSUS is not part LSU-Health Sciences, two totally separate entities with two different chancellors. Like a used car salesman trying to sell you a YUGO

I already knew that. The question I had was whether you could provide a link that stated how the current merger idea is between LSUS, Tech and NSU. The article only mentions Tech and LSUS for the present merger. In addition, Glover states that he would like to see the merger become a 3-part merger, merging LSUS, Tech and the LSUHSC. The 3-part merger seems to eliminate the possibility of an NSU merger, because their addition would create a fourth party, or 4-way merger.
