Next thing you know they'll do the same thing with LSU-A as well.

“Many of you criticize what you cannot understand, too often you’re too quick to scorn the records of a man who made young men believe their sweat was not in vain and that rising to the top required sacrifice and pain and that no one could take away what was not given. He kept them focused on the prize and demanded they stay driven.......time has passed, some words forgotten, but his wisdom will always echo in our ears and our hearts, down to our very marrow”
Its not an official merger just a recommendation by a committee that Gov. Jindal created to reduce higher educational cost. Glover can preach all he wants, but LSU System is not going to give up one of their med schools to baby brother.
The committee is also recommending reduction of graduate programs at schools that have in the words of the committee "no bearing or purpose in their region", the biomedical, nanoengineering, and computational mathematical modeling grad programs are the programs at Tech that were mentioned. There was an article in the local papers a couple of weeks ago adressing all this. The three part merger is Tech, NSU, LSUS, the LSU-HSC in Shreveport has never been mentioned

I agree with the first part. The best we can hope for is a merger between LSU-S and Tech. I don't see the LSUHSC needs to merg, what is the gain?
Second part, You are completely full of it. The state is not about to cut the biomed program. Provide some details or shut up.
You are claiming you read articles that said LSUHSC was never mentioned, yet you cannot show us the article. I can show you an article right now talking about LSUHSC.
Link is on the other topic. Do you two not read the newspapers, the commitee has been meeting for almost a month on this . No wonder Tech getting the short end of the stick

Here's the article in the Baton Rouge paper a month ago.

Why do any of you listen to B.R. Bulldog? He knows not what he speaks. Never has..........

This is where he gets that our Biomed or Nano programs might be cut:
It doesn't mention our programs specifically. It just states earlier in the article that there are too many engineering programs that are duplicated. Our Nano and Bio programs are completely safe. They are among the best in the country. I don't think they are going to take them away from us and give them to another school. That is laughable.Wharton has complained, for example, that too many public schools have specialized engineering programs. LSU, Southern University, the University of Louisiana at University, Louisiana Tech University and the University of New Orleans all have multiple engineering degree programs. McNeese State University has a general engineering technology program.

That is all that was said. Where exactly does it mention the programs you mentioned
The state will not touch our engineering stuff. If they do, they might as well close Tech.

From the newsstar article:
"The merger idea last came up in May 2008, when consultants hired by the Louisiana Board of Regents suggested allowing four schools — Tech, LSU, Grambling and Northwestern State — to offer classes on the LSUS campus, eliminating the existing LSUS.
But the suggestion died when board membership turned over and has been dormant until now."
Since then, in 2009, the Tucker Commission was created: http://www.2theadvocate.com/blogs/po.../48562532.html
-This commission created the CURRENT merger idea:
From the newsstar article:
"The suggestion of a merger came out in a Monday meeting of the Postsecondary Education Review Commission."
So the current merger idea is a different merger idea coming from a different review board than the merger idea in 2008, which included NSU.
You believe what you want Champ I'm not going to argue with someone who's too lazy to check into something when I told him over a month ago. If you doubt me call Napper the dean engineering like a told you to a month ago. Or can you not comprehend how to use a telephone either
Committee submitted its report and recommendations on the 5th of December
