Self-identified Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats to have 4-year college degrees. The trends for the years 1955 through 2004 are shown by gender in the graphs below, reproduced with permission from Democrats and Republicans — Rhetoric and Reality, a book published in 2008 by Joseph Fried.[63] These graphs depict results obtained by Fried from the National Election Studies (NES) data base.

    From http://wapedia.mobi/en/Democratic_Pa..._States)?t=3.2.

Professionals, those who have a college education and whose work revolves around the conceptualization of ideas, have supported the Democratic Party by a slight majority since 2000. Between 1988 and 2000, professionals favored Democrats by a 12 percentage point margin. While the professional class was once a stronghold of the Republican Party it has become increasingly split between the two parties, leaning in favor of the Democratic Party. The increasing support for Democratic candidates among professionals may be traced to the prevalence of social liberal values among this group. [20]
“ Professionals, who are, roughly speaking, college-educated producers of services and ideas, used to be the most staunchly Republican of all occupational groups... now chiefly working for large corporations and bureaucracies rather than on their own, and heavily influenced by the environmental, civil-rights, and feminist movements — began to vote Democratic. In the four elections from 1988 to 2000, they backed Democrats by an average of 52 percent to 40 percent. ”
A study on the political attitudes of medical students, for example, found that "U.S. medical students are considerably more likely to be liberal than conservative and are more likely to be liberal than are other young U.S. adults. Future U.S. physicians may be more receptive to liberal messages than conservative ones, and their political orientation may profoundly affect their health system attitudes." [21] Similar results are found for professors, who are more strongly inclined towards liberalism and the Democratic Party than other occupational groups. [19] The Democratic Party also has strong support among scientists , with 55% identifying as Democrats, 32% as Independents, and 6% as Republicans and 52% identifying as liberal, 35% as moderate, and 9% as conservative. Youth
Studies have shown that younger voters tend to vote mostly for Democratic candidates in recent years. Despite supporting Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, the young have voted in favor of the Democratic presidential candidate in every election since Bill Clinton in 1992, and are more likely to identify as liberals than the general population. [31] In the 2004 presidential election, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry received 54% of the vote from voters of the age group 18-29, while Republican George W. Bush received 45% of the vote from the same age group. In the 2006 midterm elections, the Democrats received 60% of the vote from the same age group. [13] [14] Polls suggest that younger voters tend to be more liberal than the general population and have more liberal views than the general public on same-sex marriage and universal healthcare, helping Barack Obama carry 66% of their votes in 2008.

Tyler, you have to look at the Big Picture, i.e., average land and sea global temperature. It's really not that hard to grasp.

Unless, of course, the folks keeping the statistics are fudging them for personal gain....or to take power from the US and threaten our position in the world.

THEN, of course, to get sufficiently motivated, you have to accept that the Earth is so fragile that I am causing it undue harm by cutting my grass with a gasoline-powered mower.

I can't believe how gullible people can be.

The Big Picture is that you and the global warming rich elitist lost. You and your bogus "scientist" got caught lying to the rest of the world for personal gain and it's over (much like you lied in this thread a few posts back). It all collapsed like the house of cards it was and is and will never stand again. It's finished Salty.

I wouldn't go that far. In case you haven't noticed, nothing's really changed, at least for the good.

    Tyler, from YOUR article:

Latif, a professor at the Leibniz Institute at Germany's Kiel University and an author of the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, believes the lengthy cold weather is merely a pause -- a 30-years-long blip -- in the larger cycle of global warming, which postulates that temperatures will rise rapidly over the coming years.

So, you must feel that AGW is really happening to present Professor Latif's opinion since he is a global warming believer.

    Re: Dangerous Global Cooling II

Gentlemen, please! You are misapplying the Al Gore scientific method. (Take any anecdote and extrapolate out several orders of magnitude. Ignore any "inconvenient" data that cannot be "tricked".) See you think global warming isn't real. That is WRONG. The truth is Al Gore fixed it! Hurricanes and hot means global warming. None and unprecedented cold on three continents means cured! Al should get a second Nobel! (Remember this about the Nobel Peace prize: Arafat got one, Ghandi did not.)

Seriously I turned on the radio once and heard this guy explaining global warming and I thought it was a comedy show. He was making wild leaps and extrapolations. Glaciers are disappearing! (Well, duh, the ice age is over and all of North America was covered in ice at one time.) on and on, Finally I realized it was AL Gore and he was serious. People shouldn't try to do serious journalism while medicated. (What Al does is not science.) Most of the people behind global warming (and no I will not switch to "climate change" because of the inconvenient truth that temperature trends are NOT on a steep incline upward) believe we are wasting the earth's resources and global warming legislation can make us do better. I have no problem if that is the goal. Just be an adult and admit it and treat the rest of us like adults. (Better limit your energy use or the boogey man will get you and all the world,)

The big lie of "settled science" is being thrown out at the mental midgets of the world to get them to fall in line. I go to Sunday school with a head of one of LSU's secience departments. He cringes at AL and "settled science". He thinks over-hyping combined with not allowing honest debate in peer review journals is going to be harmful in the long run. (He is not sure and wants to know how the oceans will change due to high carbon dioxide. I think that is fair.) Once it was absolutely settled science that the earth was flat. It was settled science that the sun and solar system spun around the earth. Anyone arrogant enough to throw out that phrase is not an investigator but an evangelist.

You owe it to yourself to read the data and discussion in the back of Micheal Chriton's "State of Fear". He bases the whole novel (and it is an excellent work of fiction), on data that does not cooperate. He thinks the removal of funding from those who dare to question the evangelists interpretation of the data is almost criminal and has been quite chilling to the academics who need their jobs.

Enough. I fear it is pearls before swine.
