    Mark May's Top 5 for 2010 season

Mark May was on ESPN News this am, I caught his preseason top 5.

    1. Alabama
    2. Ohio State
    3. Texas
    4. USC
    5. Virginia Tech

He cited some of these teams recruit well and bring back a lot of starters.

Boise just finished #4 and they bring everyone back. He and Craig James, neither from major ncaa teams (pitt, smu) sure love them some elite programs.

Here is what Mark May probably has for the rest of his preseason top ten:

    6: Florida
    7: Penn St.
    8. LSU
    9. Oklahoma
    10. Pitt (he wouldnt rank any other big east team!)

Idiot! Boise should be #2 and, at worst, #4.

Texas freshman QB was put in an awful situation last night and did show some promise in the second half, but he is no Colt - Texas will be lucky to be in the top 10 next year.

you're right, he's no colt. garrett gilbert will leave the university of texas as the most decorated qb to ever play there. better than colt. better than vince young. you saw a kid grow up in the 2nd half on the biggest stage in the world, and with a spring practice under his belt, he's going to light the world on fire next year.

Mark May is a moron indeed, with out a doubt Boise State should definitely be in the Top 5 starting next year. As many have said, they return the same team and Kellen Moore is probably just gonna get better in his junior year.

Ah, yes. The same Mark May who said that, in theory, if Boise and Oregon played ten times, Oregon would win nine of those games. Hmmm... Let's see now. They actually have played twice in two years and Boise won BOTH games...

You might be right. Fact is, as the son of an Oklahoma alumnus, I'm glad Colt is gone.

I think you very well could be right. I went from feeling really sorry for him to admiring the hell out of his talent and spunk.

He deserved to cry. :icon_wink: Could you imagine being right out of high school and being put in that situation in your first year? Wow! He did respond big time in the second half. I was hurting for him in that first half. I still differ with the Prof that he will be better than Colt, but he will be good. Got the best learning experience you could possibly get last night.

Did he? He may well have. Was it during his interview?

I think I might be inclined to cut him a little slack being as how he's not much more than 18 years old, a true freshman, never played in a National Championship or any game as huge as that ever and handled himself like a MAN on the field in the most difficult of circumstances.

Now if he plays 4 years, wins two national championships and a heisman trophy and cries on national tv when they lose two games in two years, I'll be on his a$$ too.

Re: Mark May's Top 5 for 2010 season

I don't see where Mark May comes up with his predictions. Va Tech didn't even play for the lowly ACC title this year. Texas is losing a ton of talent even though they will just reload. You watch, BSU will not be in the top 10 in August. They will do all they can to keep them out of the NC game. And it is because there are people who love the mythical NC game just like Mark May loves to project who he thinks will be good no matter what the stat sheet says. I am surprised that Notre Dame didn't make it. After all, they will have a new coach in there, so all problems are solved, right!

Re: Mark May's Top 5 for 2010 season

Boise got dissed. They've been calling for all the big teams to play, but no one wants any of the Broncos.

How in the F is USC REPEATEDLY in the Top 5? They didn't come close to winning their sorry conf. Granted they recriut well, and have lots of talent, but still...
