HD, you have to start with a pool larger than 2-3 guys. 2 of those 3 are going to run out of the room when you tell them how much it pays. Then you are left with 1 guy and no real options. The list has to be 5-7 deep at least.

Coaching salary information is published everywhere these days. We read this info all the time, and I'm sure they do too. Furthermore, these coaches are all well connected to the "job placement" firm we hired. And the job placement firm educates these guys on the pay levels before any interviews even begin.

And of course, you've always got the "popular" guys like Monken, who used to work here. He should know what the job pays too. The fact that we don't pay as well as Notre Dame is no big secret.
