Dykes COULD be a one-year wonder for us. Why? Because, with the large number of good, young --and now experieinced-- players that we have returning --combined with Dykes' wide open offense-- I think we can win 9, or even 10 games in 2010. That's going to make Dykes' market value soar!!
The good news is, Texas Tech just hired Tommy Tuberville, and it should take Tuby a couple of years to fail miserabley in Lubbock. So we may get lucky and get to hold on to Dykes for 2 or 3 seasons. But after that, TX Tech will likely hire Dykes away from us.
Regardless, if Dykes delivers the wins I expect, I believe his tenure at LA Tech is still gonna be a whole LOT of fun!! :icon_wink:

Hope Dykes's shoes with be > than those awful black shoes DD wore on gametime.
I am proud of how Dawgmatic has responded to all of this. YOU GO, DAWGMATIC!
If dykes wins 10 he gets a five year extension instantly.
It is arguably still too early to tell, but I am thinking this timing has worked out perfectly.
Dooley was the RIGHT person at the RIGHT time to do the program-building things for football, and then as AD for the department as a whole, that have been holding us back for years. We all knew this coming season was going to make or break him in terms of his actual coaching ability. But Dooley leaving at this time and in this manner opened the door for our admin to get an instant upgrade in actual coaching experience/ability.
The next step in the formula Dooley was laying down was to WIN. I believe we now have a coach who puts us in a better position to do that.
