ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!!! Our kicking game was a mess last year, and field position was our enemy all season. We've GOT to do away with the "pooch" kickoffs, and the 20-yard punts.

You make it hard on yourself when you give the opposition a 50-yard field instead of an 80-yd field.

Probably the most important thing for RB's is balance. However, the short shorts are equally important when game time is near.

I don't know coach. "Quick Six" faced defenses that, overall, were much smaller and slower than today's defenses. The ability to pick up the tough, short yards near the goal line, and to do so over the course of an entire season without injury, requires a tough, pyhsical runner. Stanton fits that scheme.

y'know, moats didn't have that big of a problem finding the end zone, and he walked on campus weighing 195 pounds and left it weighing 207. he also stood only about 5-8. you don't have to be a HUGE back to be able to find the end zone. it's all about SPEED, QUICKNESS, EXPLOSIVENESS and LEVERAGE!

Just as many have mentioned our staff should go after some prospects committed to other schools when they had a coaching change, the same thing will happen to us by several schools, not all BCS.

All a part of the game. We had (have) no guarantees any of our HS commits actually sign, even with Dooley here. Until they send in the paperwork, anything can happen. I figure Sonny keeps everyone already on board. If someone bails, he may or may not try to pursue them. Conversely, I can think of one JUCO player at a school that just recently lost their OC that none of us would mind showing up at Tech in a few weeks for the spring quarter. :icon_wink:

The unwritten rule, and this is why a lot of folks came down on Kiffin and O, is that coaches do not contact kids they have recruited to take them to the new school. If the recruit decides to contact the coach and go to the new school then that is another thing entirely. The key is is whether Dooley contacted him first about going to Tennessee.

I have not faulted Dooley at all so far, but if he starts taking Tech commits, then I have real problems with that. Not like he really needs them to be successful next year. Stanton could be a significant part of our offense next year, he will not be at Tennessee.

Yeah it's going to keep happening because coaches can get away with it. I have very high regards for Coach Dooley, however I will have to rethink my opinion of him if he did in fact contact Stanton about going to Tennessee. Very low class indeed. But hey, these guys are all human. If you're gonna act like a weasel, act like a weasel. Don't put on some front about class and character and integrity if you're going to throw it out the door as soon as the cameras and microphones are gone.

One suggestion to help solve this issue is an early signing period for football. There are other advantages to an early signing period as well, so I have been hoping that this would come about.
