As a Saints fan I'm glad they won but personally do not like to see the outcome determined on a coin toss. It would have been interesting to see what happened if the Vikings would have had one last shot at the end. Maybe one day the Competition Committee will change these rules.
That is the first time in playoff history that a game has gone into overtime and been won by the team who won the toss. 4 times a playoff game has gone into overtime and this is the only time I think they said on ESPN the team who won the toss won the game. So does it really determine the outcome and is this really what I heard?

We are also the first team to lose their last 3 games and make it to the Super Bowl.
I would like to see each team guaranteed one possession in overtime.
I like what Greeny said on Mike and Mike this morning. He wants to see the ruled changed to the first team to 6 wins. That means you have to drive the length of the field and score a TD or make 2 FG's and hold your opponent scoreless or to a FG as well.
I like the rule better than the college system. Minnesota had a chance...they just couldn't capitalize.

Sudden death is the best by far, the Vikes had plenty of chances to stop the Saints, but they didnt capitalize.

Both teams had a chance. It's not perfect, but I'm with huss that college OT is goofy. Maybe each team gets a possession starting on their own 25 would be better, but that would extend the game too much.

By both teams get a chance you mean if the first team doesn't score then the 2nd team plays it safe since they are basically already in field goal range?
Is it any more arbitrary than flipping a coin? Isn't that the definition of arbitrary? A 50/50 guessing game?
No, because you have already played for 60 minutes and the two teams are even. Therefore, even probability to get the ball first. Why not? I know, let's start giving it to teams at the 1 yard line, let's see if we can get games to go to 100-100, it is ridiculous. Just like thsoe 6 OT games that Arkansas has played in, that is just gay. Besides, you get a chance to stop them. Vikes had a chance to win in regulation and blew it, so there is no "deserving" a chance to get the ball. If you want to win, handle your business in regulation. No sense in dragging the game out way longer than necessary.
They missed a 30-something yard FG, they turned the ball over 5 times, they had the ball almost 40 minutes of the game. It was THEIR FAULT that the game even went to OT.
That would be one change that I'd like to see as well. I don't know if it would be a fix-all, but I would still like to try it. I don't see why they don't just try it for the pre-season and just see how it goes.
As for the college rules, they have GOT to move the ball back to the 35. One thing that would do is make it MUCH harder for that easy 42 yard FG to end the game. After every 2 OT's, move back 5 yards (as well as the must go for 2).
If the pro's went to a similar system, then I would like to START them at the 40. If they didn't move the ball and just wanted to line up for the FG, they'd have to kick a 57 yarder. Most kickers have the leg, but it's a very low % kick.
The Vikes did have a chance in OT. The chance to play defense and special teams. They didn't do it good enough to win.
I used to want the pro's to adopt the college OT but I have since changed my mind. #1 if you are in OT to begin with you haven't done enough to win. That's your problem. #2 The win is not being determined by a coin toss. Play some defense. Football is about offense, defense and special teams. Not just offense.
Maybe, Maybe I could see going to the college OT if the ball doesn't start on the 25. I think if you go to this sort of thing you give both teams a chance but kickoff like normal. But that could really drag things on for a while. But then again I love football so MORE football isn't a problem for me, for people running a TV network it might be.
