    BCS Money

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...html?eref=sihp

The five non-Bowl Championship Series college athletic conferences will receive a record $24 million from this year's BCS bowl games, according to BCS figures obtained by The Associated Press Monday.

Most of the $24 million will go to the two non-BCS conferences that sent teams to BCS games: Mountain West Conference, at $9.8 million, and the Western Athletic Conference, at $7.8 million. The other three non-BCS conferences will divide the remainder.

Don't get too excited about this. It is just more anti-playoff propaganda from the BC$ execs. These figures were already available a month ago because they are still the same estimates.

With $7.7 million to the WAC (and assuming no additional deductions to cover bowl payout shortages), Boise State would get just over $2.6 million and the other 8 WAC schools would get almost $637K each.

    CUSA--$220K each, Belch--$169K each, MAC--$160K each

I love how they make a big deal (like the headline) out of the non-AQ conferences getting so much money. And then down at the bottom as an afterthought:

Despite the record amount that now goes to the non-BCS schools, it still represents a sum far less than that received by the half-dozen BCS conferences.
And the BCS head turd polisher:
BCS executive director Bill Hancock told the AP the new numbers show the distribution is "fair and appropriate."
