Good to hear that we are moving forward with the endzone project. It has been sorely needed for a while, and progress is a good thing...especially in the area of athletic facilities. Is there a specific plan for fundraising on this project, or will it be lumped in with other projects?
They need to just go with "Big X" and pronounce the X as the letter rather than as a Roman numeral.

They'll stick with Big 10, but they'll find a way to hide a "12" in there like they did with the "11."

Could always call themselves the Baker's Dozen conference since I'm sure they will expand to 13 in a few years after they get 12 teams. Having the same number of teams as the number in your conference title indicates goes against all the mid west stands for.

Simple, they were known as the big 2 little eight for years. Just make it big 1 little eleven (until Michigan comes back).

So we're waiting until the end of next season to start construction? I think thats a little too slow with the conference realignment pot stirring like it is.....

Oh yea, he said that the conference thing was looking really good for us at this time. He didn't say when the groundbreaking was taking place.

    Re: Endzone Project?

it would be best to wait till end of next season to start IMO. even if they did get the plans completed next week. they would then have to be sent out to bid which would take a couple of weeks. then have the job awarded wich would take about a week and then get the project started. That would have construction starting no earlier than march (and that is pushing it). This gives you only 6 months to produce an extensive remodel/addition.

If you wait till end of next season, they could have the contract already awarded, and the contractor could have the shop drawing process already started and hit the ground running the day after the last home game. This would allow about 8 and a half months of actual work and they would have time to get logistics done before starting.

Just the thoughts of a young construction guy.

I think, just from a marketing standpoint, that we start the project prior to the season. This way the construction cannot be missed during our televised games.

This will give the announcers additional information to discuss, show the drawings/mockups, and disuss the other campus improvements.

Absolutely. I would imagine that if the official plans were released today, it would be May or June before it broke ground. Building it DURING the season gets the fans that are at the games stoked about it and they will give more.

I would not start construction just to have it shown for everyone at the games. The south endzone would be HIDEOUS. I don't see this happening. If you want to market it for the games, show the renderings on Dawgzilla periodically during the game.
