PAC-10 Expansion

Colorado has a good reputation academically, they are very liberal administration and policy-wise. They will fit in well with Cal, Stanford, and the other west coasters. Colorado did express interest when this idea first arose many years ago. I don't know if their current administration feels the same way.

The PAC-10 does not have a lot options to choose from. Colorado is the only AQ school that is close to the current geographic footprint.

I've said this elsewhere, but Colorado isn't looking for a research partner or someone to go antiquing with. If the Big 12 continues to offer better money, UC stays in the Big 12.

Very true. We will have to see what the PAC-10 can offer in the way of TV contracts and such. I can't seem to find it right now, but what is the difference in payouts for each school between the Big 12 and PAC-10?

You can't just be a good team. And you can't just bring in decent money. It's got to be more than 1/10 of what they already make, or they're just breaking even and adding teams to add teams (which they won't do).

I think New Mexico gets in oer CSU. New Mexico has a huge basketball history and they at least have good attendance and support for football.

Both of these teams have been mentioned on the talk shows out here. Not saying it will happen, but ..... Also, Boise has shown they can compete with the PAC-10 on the football field.

I don't think Boise State can get into the PAC 10 on football alone. I think the PAC 10's newest members probably have to be a pretty decent academic school and will have to have good women's sports. PAC 10 for some reason always produces great women's programs in almost all sports.
