They had a draft "before" the college season?
I think that's because players are eligible to be drafted after they graduate. Amberly has graduated and is returning for her senior season at Tech.
The NPF does their draft early in the year. I don't really know why, but they usually contact coaches to find out if the player they are interested before they draft.The players don't sign contracts until after they are finished with their collegiate season. Then they join their team. The NPF season starts at the end of May so teams that are competing in the Women's College World Series may have people on their teams who start with the pro team a little later.Originally Posted by Abominable Gorilla
Yeah, I was trying to think up a reason, but I was wrong. I have no idea why they do the draft then. It would suck to have your first round pick get injured or something.
