I sure hope it is Spangler, but I thought I read something about lots of coaches interviewing for the defensive coordinator position.
The fact that Eggen was name the defensive line coach makes it sound like it is Spangler's job. Otherwise you would think they would have waited for the new DC to make changes to the defensive staff.
If it's Spangler, it looks like a forced marriage. Dykes looked elsewhere and so did Spangler and neither came up with anything.

SD couldn't find "his own people"? Maybe SD looked around and couldn't find anyone that we could afford that was better than Spangler, and maybe Spangler looked around and couldn't find anything better as well, but that's very rocky footing for starting a coaching relationship.
Since there has been no announcement, Spang may not have the job. But it is looking more and more like he will be on staff. Even if there is a new DC, he may be a position coach.
He couldn't have found anyone better than Spangler, for the price. I feel very comfortable with Spangler running the defense. We need to stay physical on that side of the ball. I don't want to go back to that Crowton/Bicknell finnesse game crap.

T-Spang is neither gone nor has he been confirmed as coming back.
