''Don't be a bad dagh..."
I for one would love to see Baylor go far. After what that program went through, they deserve it. Of the short list you provided, I think they have the best chance of being seeded on the high side of their region. Especially since they mopped the floor with teams like Xavier early in the year. Also, they shined in the Big 12 tourney last year. If they can go deep into that tourney, it will greatly improve their stock.
Me too. It cheapens the two teams that have to play for the right to get beat to death by a one seed.
This 65 team is a result of the wac breaking up years ago when the mwc was formed.
My other thought is the open field already exits. Every team has a chance to win their conference tournament now, with only a couple of exceptions. the ivy league being one and the big east excluding to teams from their tournament come to mind. Keep the field at 65. There are already about another 64 teams with the nit and the two pay for play tournaments know.
I am in a wait and see mode. I have a feeling we will just see more in from big conferences that don't belong there.
Who needs a seeding? Everybody's in. If you're good, you're good....it doesn't really matter who you play.
Frankly, I like the idea of keeping the NCAA Tournament at 64 teams. The annual discussion surrounding "who gets in" is part of the fun. Does anybody really care about "bubble teams" in the 90's to 100's, with 16-17 overall records? Not me.
Taking the NCAA tournament to 64 teams is going to really water it down. But this is exactly what I expect of the generation that gave us bicycle helmets for kids, soccer games where we don't keep score, and of course, trophies for both the winners and the losers. :icon_wink:
