I'm excited to see what happens this year...then again, I'm excited every year to see what happens. I've had a few folks in my ear about SD coming to Tech, especially with all the UofA folks around me.

Taikwon Paige is at Toledo? I thought Tech recruited him, but he signed with Auburn.

It is quite exciting, but the QB question is really a make or break case for the season now that spangler is staying.

Rest assured a "game manager" is NOT how Dykes and Franklin are looking to fill the QB position.

The QB will have to make plays in our 2010 offense.

I really believe we have upgraded our entire coaching staff this off season. My biggest worries were loosing Dooley the AD. I no longer have those concerns.

Yes, the loss of Dooley the AD was much more significant than Dooley the HC. But I feel we are in good hands now with BVD in charge.

What exactly qualifies as dynamic?? I haven't seen Cameron play enough to know if is dynamic, unlike Raulston and Burch who seem to be very mobile and have quick releases for slants, hitches, etc.

Cameron's release is fast enough and he's not slow by any means.

Ok, then what's dynamic?? I've played against and a few seen mobile QB's and QB's with huge arms, but never quite got the term.

    Re: Non-AQ Spring surprises

I was lucky enough last year and got to watch a few practices and scrimmages. Believe it or not, Ross always looked the best overall. Most people on here only saw the Spring game and based their opinion of our QB situation based on that.

My point is that we need to stop bashing some QB's and giving unproven praise to others on this board. 99.9% of us here have no clue what has gone on in previous years in practice and workouts. Let's just see how it plays out from here on out because the system we will be running now is completely different and nobody knows which QB will come out on top. Ross may or may not flourish and some of our young QB's that many on here think will be the next Rattay, might never be able to produce.

With open practices now, we will be better able to see who IS the better QB during the off-season and not make uninformed assinine comments.

Yeah I know, but I hate to start the freshman kids against Navy when you know its going to be a tight game, gotta start them sometimes. I guess we'll see what happens!

They key to beating Navy will be blocking by the OL imo. Army and Navy slayed us by confusing our OL. Having just rewatched the Navy game, I did not come away with a high opinion of our OL and playcalling.

Thing is, I saw the spring game, the Nevada game, the Navy game, the Auburn game, the LSU game, and all the home games. So out of 13 games, I watched 9 and my humble evaluation of Ross follows:

    Happy feet in the pocket.
Can scramble out of the pocket "Romo-like".
Never really good at the deep ball, or at least not consistent with it.
Often telegraphed his decision to DB's, LB's.
Not too resilient after picks or turnovers.
Seemed like an emotional leader though, keeping the offense calm when needed.

It's true, we wont know anything more until Spring practices, but I think the door is WIDE open given Ross' run-in with the law, a veteran offensive line to protect a young QB, and a new offensive school of thought.
