Good old Memorial Gym
I'm not gonna be worried if KG comes back healthy, BUT, if he's not healthy, we don't stand a chance!! I believe we win the tournament with a healthy KG!! I'm still a believer!!
Its depth and coaching. You cant expect to be a consistent team if you rely so heavily on 1 to 2 players to get you points. Outside of KG and Magnum (sometimes Guyton, but he has been terribly inconsistent) points are hard to come by. I really like Olu but he is not yet ready to give 15 a night. After that our the drop off in talent level is significant.
The thing that worries me is Rupp shows the same stubborness as Richard in the fact that we dont have SHOOTERS. They are enamered with the great athlete, not basketball player. There is a reason these teams like Butler and other small schools have had success. I am sure many of you remember Northern Iowa coming in here a few years ago and shooting us out of the building. It was really kind of sad to watch us against Boise a few weeks ago when they were running a zone and we did not have anybody that wasnt scared to pull the trigger.
There's not a team in our league that wouldn't struggle if they lost their leading scorer. We are especially reliant upon Kyle at the end of games. As for balance, I don't know what other teams have 5 players who average double digits.
Yes, I am very frustrated. Almost everyone else that has responed to this thread has given excuses, but I am very very pissed off about the Dawg's preformance the last 4 weeks (minus the bracketbuster, that was awesome!).
We went from legitimate at-large, to barely making the NIT in 1 month's time, that, to me SUCKS!!!!!!!!
Lack of coaching Boomer - maybe...
Maybe, I think the Dawgs are just tired (minus Gibson), but, maybe, just maybe, Rupp has them all a little nervous. He's kicked more players off his team(s) then probably any coach in a 2 year span. Is Rupp too hard on his players?
I hate quoting okie by the way, he SUCKS!!!!!
Simple as this: KG plays and we have a chance of winning the tournament, which we would have to do anyway to get in the NCAA's. I think getting KG back will be a huge boost to this team right now and the energy will be there for the tournament. Even if KG is not at full strength, I think him being back will boost our energy tremendously.
Without KG, I have some deep concerns..... I will just leave it at that..
I am satisfied if we do not win another game. Great progress this year. We got spoiled beating a bunch of horrible basketball teams in non-conference then once the conference kicked in we actually did better than I expected. Do not underestimate the toll the travel takes. I believe this team has overachieved and I am ready for next year.
And this team was never a "legit at large" that only comes from the same folks that were posting the Techsters were a Top 25 team earlier in the year. At some point we must be realistic.
I hate to be a kill-joy, but if the rest of the team is waiting for kg the way the fans seem to be, we are done.
I've never understood this excuse. NBA players are older than college players and they play a lot more games each week and travel much more than we do. NBA players play 3 times as many games in a season as we do. And they play much stiffer competition than we do. And yet, they rarely use the "tired legs" excuse.
"Tired legs" is just an excuse for "I've lost my game, and I'm playing like shit."
