We aren't exactly at ground zero. We have a player in Olu that has proven he can compete with the top players in conference (Babbitt and Wesley) as well as a talented point guard who just needs to learn to pass a little more.

Unfortunately we suffered some bad luck down the stretch keep us out of the dance. Who knows if we'd have gotten in the dance without that bad luck. But treating the Rupp era like it is a failure is premature considering 2 years in a row he has gotten us to semifinals in the WAC tournament.

Semifinals are not and should not be a selling point for rupp. All he has is one good regular season. He has no post season apperances, just excuses. First season it was his rebuilding season, which was patheic by rebuilding standards. Last year we would have been legit but we took a moral stand. This year it was injuries. Next year it will be "we lost our 4 top scorers"

This program has become a walking excuse. It will never stop. When will we wake up and see that. We are mistakenly confusing our overall athletic progress with mens b ball progress. Rupp has done nothing that Richard didn't.

Richard had a couple 20 wins seasons did he not? Again, Rupp won 1 game in the WAC tourney 2 seasons in a row. It's not that big of a deal. It's pathetic that we even have to argue about it.

And how many times before he got here have we gone to semifinals? It isn't good enough to only go to semifinals but it is a huge step up from where we've been.

NIT officials claim they factor in injuries hampering further success in the season. Of course they might just mean they factor in UNC's injuries and ignore ours.

I know, I will get ripped here, but does anyone else think this team does not deserve a NIT bid? I have NEVER seen a team give up like they did last night. Blame it on Rupp, Injuries, Fatigue, Lack of Depth, Officiating, Seeding in the WAC tourney, etc, etc, etc, I just dont think they are deserving this year, we did not come to play last night- bottom line.

Good post. I agree.....this LA Tech team quit during the USU game. I saw the USU-NMSU championship game on TV last night, and I just don't see the greatness of USU at all. As my mother used to say...."whatever they (USU) got, it don't show".

USU choked badly down the stretch last night. Not sure I understand why everybody on this board is so enamored with USU.

I'm not trying to be mean....but this Tech team is DONE. You can stick a fork in 'em. We don't deserve an NIT bid, and I'm okay with that. We were very lucky to get as many wins as we did this year.

No they don't. They blew that opportunity when they allowed themselves to get blown out by 30 points.

Really? Go look at that schedule again. Lost to Yale and Southern. Our big win outside the BracketBuster was Texas Tech (15-17). Southern Illinois in the BracketBuster. Also played Wisconsin (19-12) and Memphis (33-4).

This year's team might be hosting an NIT game in 2005 NIT.

And yet another negative spin. There is no point dealing with you. If we would have lost to NMSU in finals of the WAC tournament you'd complain. Hell you'd probably complain if we won the WAC and lost in the first round of the dance.
