I am going to go take a look at the Constitution now to see which article or amendment contains the "right" of health care. Should be easy to find since it is so important...

Yes, there are things that can be done to improve our health care system, lower costs, and encourage participation. This bill was not one of them. Like maddawg said, this was about government control. I hope Stupak can sleep at night. An executive order doesn't mean squat. NOW is already howling about it. I suspect it is quickly rescinded after final approval is done. Looks like the only hope now is for the constitutional challenges by the states. :bigcry:

The system will now be worked by everybody, reducing efficiency to that of USSR level communism.

I might let mine expire, pay the fines, then enroll when it's baby time

Had 2 wrecks, 1 major and 1 fender-bender, still got increased insurance and then got insurance on my own.

Claims should never be limited if you're paying.
Insurance is a business. When claims and costs exceed premiums it is not good business. Claims are certain to exceed premiums.

The fine for not being covered is small in year one and year two. At two percent most families will be money ahead to pay the fine rather than pay the premium. $200K/yr = $4K fine. Still less than most premiums for a family plan.

Businesses will drop their plans and pay the $2000/year fine with no salary increases...that's a bottom-line increase in earnings of about $12,000/year per employee.
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?

I dont' think so. They are trying to put insurance companies out of business. Forcing an unfair selection process on ins. companies will do that. Keeping the fines low aides the unfair selection.

True - the end goal is to take it over from the private companies. This bill took over the student loans from private companies.

I never listen to Rush normally, but today I have. He is correct in what is going to happen. The penalty is going to be cheaper than having the insurance so they will encourage that. However; when people get sick they can immediately join up without prior coverage because the pre-existing condition provision is now gone. They can find out they have cancer - sign up, have a wreck- sign up. There will be no need for insurance unless you know you are going to be needing it.

You mean the baby killer that sold his vote for $700k in airport renovations for his district. I hope he can't sleep at night - he doesn't deserve to ever be able to sleep again after selling his soul to the devil. I hope babies crying haunt him every time he closes his eyes!!!!!!!!!

Just listened to an interview with Stupak. He talked about how the executive order was as good as a law for his abortion issue. When questioned about that point he said they couldn't get it through the Senate as a law so his only choice was to get the executive order. To which he was then asked 'what if President Obama goes back on his word and rescinds the executive order'. Stupak said 'he wouldn't do that, that's why they had the agreement worded the way it was'. To which the reporter cited a particular executive order that Obama had done that very thing to which previously he promised he would not. Stupak then admitted that Obama, or in fact, any future president could rescind the executive order but that 'this was the only way we could get the abortion protection we wanted'.

The reporter said, 'you could have voted against the health care bill' and Stupak said one vote wouldn't have made a difference. 'But there were 4 of you standing together at the end and if you had all voted against it together the health care bill would have failed and you would not have compromised your position'. Stupak said 'yes, that's true.....

It was hard to listen to.

Stupak is a collectivist idiot who paid lip service to the pro-life camp to steal their votes. The modern american system at work!
