Well listening to the radio I heard Ludacris (not my type of music but still a very popular artist) is comming to Ewing at ULM.
I was just wondering what happened to all the great concerts Tech used to have when I was in High School. I remember the Goo Goo Dolls and other popular groups from Country as well as Rock genres.
But its been a while since there was a popular artist at Tech and I was just wondering why.
I think Tech's waiting for the next Anne Murray to come along.
There have been a few popular artists over the past few years. Alien Ant Farm, Nickelback, Michelle Branch, Ben Folds. No one "Big Time" though. I had a friend on the Union Board and she always said that the big artists just charge too much money.
I'm always jealous when my dad tells me about how The Eagles and ZZ Top came to Tech when he was in school.

Tech has always had crap bands come to campus: Goo Goo Dolls, Tonic, Nickelback... were the bands the UB brought in when I was on campus. Ugh.
Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”

I wonder if sometimes bands or management talk to one another about their experiences as well. I went to see The Wallflowers and was embarrassed. There weren't 400 people there. Like them or not, they were big enough at the time to have a good crowd. Plus, Alien Ant Farm and Tonic being fairly established at the time, I imagine playing in the Tonk didn't endear themselves too well to the university.
I think getting someone like Robert Randolph and the Family Band would be great. They play from big to small venues and always put on a great show. I've seen them 3 times and the core of their crowds are college age kids.
They need to get Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel...
