I was at a wedding in Atlanta this weekend. The bride and groom and most of the attendees were University of Georgia Alum. During the reception, they sang their fight song, but then they proceeded to chant "gooooooooo dawgs, sick em" in the exact way we do. Did we steal our kickoff chant directly from UGA? If so, are there others?
Or how about, they stole it from us :icon_wink:

Do we really know for sure? I think it would be wrong to assume that just because UGA is a better-known school that they necessarily created the chant. Just like it would be worng to assume that just because we were bulldogs before they were that they stole the chant from us.
i don't see how it's a big deal if we did steal it. oklahoma's ridiculous and annoying 4-bar fight song that all the sportscasters seem to love was stolen from yale (much like our beloved mascot and georgia's).
I have been wondering the same thing about Baylor and "Sic 'em Bears".

that chant has been around for decades. I had family there in the 80's and they were doing it then.
Actually, our chant is just loud "ooooooooooohhhhhh's" pre-kickoff, and once the ball is kicked the students yell, "Sic' 'em Dawgs! Whoo! Whoo! Whoo! Whoo!" As if they are barking. So technically ours and UGA's aren't the same.
They don't really sound the same in practice either.

Forget Georgia, we were the first Bulldogs in FBS anyway, so they don't matter in that respect. We were barking before they had their damn mascot.
