i remember the last time unt signed a kid out of baton rouge. josh white was too small. yeah, he was quick, but his game wouldn't translate well to college. well, he was only north texas's leading scorer and best player this year.
the bigger indictment than us not recruiting mcghee is that trent johnson has sold a bill of goods that local players aren't good enough to play at lsu. he let the best player in the state, peabody's markel brown, leave and sign with oklahoma state without a scholarship offer. he let glen oaks's brian williams leave baton rouge to sign with oklahoma state without a scholarship offer. those guys weren't good enough. after an absolutely awful season this year, johnson better hope he's right on the guys he's bringing in next year.
i try to keep my mouth shut with recruiting. i know our coaches are looking at kids in-state, and they have to decide which kids best fit their system. if they think a juco or out-of-state player is better, i'm going to give them some leeway. but there's a ton of talent playing in gyms across louisiana, not just in north louisiana, but everywhere.

I'm sure there will be someone on here shortly, saying that this guy could not play in the WAC.
Rupp can flat out recruit many are going to argue but he can recruit and this program is headed in the right direction.
Baton Rouge is too close to Ruston for Rupp.

I don't see where Don's statement, taken like it's stated, says anything condenscending about the staff. By making your above statement and then replying to Don's, it appears, at least to me, that you're trying to stir things up a little. We all have our opinions on what the staff should and should not do and nobody's opinion is any better or any worse than anyone elses. If other people's opinion bothers you, then you need to get thicker skin or put everyone on ignore.

The next person of interest is a new name for most Saint Joseph's fans. Pictured above, Ronald "RJ" McGhee is a 6'4 170 pound senior shooting guard from Istrouma High School. Sibley called RJ the best unsigned shooter in the state of Louisiana. McGhee played AAU ball with Galloway on the Louisiana Select team and the two have known one another for quite a while. Sibley said that McGhee is a pure shooter with deep range. After watching Saint Joseph's shoot 1-19 from 3 point land tonight against Xavier, it's evident why the Hawks would have interest in a player like RJ. A "high D1 shooter" with the "best mid-range pull-up I have seen" is how Sibley described McGhee's offensive game. Although he is right-handed, Sibley said that RJ loves to drive the ball to his left and elevate for dunks with his left hand. In order to become a better and more complete player, Sibley said that RJ would need to put about 15-20 pounds on his frame and improve his handle a bit. If he is able to do those things, and continue to improve defensively, Sibley said that RJ has the chance to be an equal player to Galloway. Saint Joseph's, Alabama, Arkansas, Tulane, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, and Southern Miss are all involved with McGhee. UCLA was down recently to watch him as well. Right now, his favorite is North Texas.
