One thing I've noticed is that Dykes is purely a football coach. He talks more about specifics than ideals. I'm not gonna complain about Derek because I really do like what he brought to the table. But, he always seemed to leave me wondering as to what the heck we were trying to do besides teaching the guys "scheme discipline" and "playing with effort." I mean, he completely changed our offensive strategy after Navy (maybe during) because he realized it "wasn't us." What the heck does that mean!
Don't get me wrong, I like a cerebral, ethereal conversation as much as the next guy but... I wanna know what the heck we're trying to do out there. Moral platitudes only go so far...
