If the NCAA Tournament expands to 96 teams as many predict it will, the WAC will again look lackluster to CUSA...

4 CUSA teams make the cut
1 from the WAC
Numbers don't lie.

Even numbers predicting the 2011 basketball tournament that is almost a year away?
Have you seen the latest BCS predictions? Those games are only 7 months or so away. I'll give you a hint, for what they are worth, the WAC is doing better than CUSA on "way-too-early" BCS predictions.
I'm gonna call it a wash.
It's not who will make the tournament - it's the concept that if they expand the tourney to 96, the WAC better put up or shut up. ESPN predicting 4 teams from CUSA and 1 from the WAC a year out from the tourney -- if this actually happened, it would be disastrous. It proves the national perception that the WAC is a 1-bid league - that even if they expand to 96, the WAC still gets 1 - AND CUSA gets 4... that's a huge gap.
2010 numbers don't lie either. There were 12 auto-bids below the top 84 RPI including Houston in 2010. Very likely CUSA would have had 6 teams in with the WAC 4 teams in. Not so lackluster.....:icon_wink:
And the WAC has NEVER had fewer than two teams in the Top 84 RPI since Tech joined in 2001-2002.
they were talking about this on the radio the other day. if they expand to 96 teams why don't they just expand it to all of D1 its only like 115 schools.
You're confusing football with basketball. Many "basketball" schools --including many Big East programs, for example-- don't belong in your football D1 list of 115 schools. What will you do about them? You can't leave out Georgetown, Marquette, St John's, etc.....just because they don't fit into your list of 115. Same with many other "basketball" school conferences, such as the MVC, or the A10. Remember FINAL FOUR participant Butler? Or George Mason? etc......
You're just very confused on this one.

According to Wikipedia. I'm not going to count them (and there didn't find anything easy from a more reliable source) but that seems about right.Currently Division I contains 342 Institutions plus 7 going through the Reclassification Period.
