Fresno State would win the tiebreaker over Tech since Tech got swept by NMSU, so Tech can get only the #3-#5 seed. Looks more like the #5 seed based on today's performance (better termed surrender).

I don't like the chances of finishing the WAC schedule above .500.
I don't usually quote myself, but unless Tech scores 8 before making three outs it is about to get run-ruled to clicnch a .500 or below conference record.

    Re: WAC Standings

    Hawai'i 4, San Jose State 2 game 1
    Nevada 18, Tech 1 (7 innings)
Fresno State 7, Sacamento State 6 game 1
    San Jose State 3, Hawai'i 0 game 2
Fresno State 10, Sacramento State 1 game 2

    Standings through Saturday's games
    1Fresno State 15-8, .652, -----
    2New Mexico State 14-9-1, .604, 1 GB
    3Nevada 13-9-1, .587, 1.5 GB
    Louisiana Tech, 11-12, .478, 4 GB
    Hawai'i 11-12, .478, 4 GB
    6San Jose State 9-14, .391, 6 GB
    xSacramento State 7-16, .304, 8 GB

New Mexico State beat Nevada 2-1-1, so it has clinched the #2 seed.

Hawai'i will be the #4 seed based on conference road records (Hawai'i 5-6, Tech 3-8) if Hawai'i and Tech finished tied. Tech can only be the #4 seed if it wins and Hawai'i loses.

New Mexico State beat Nevada 2-1-1, so it has clinched the #2 seed.

Louisiana Tech will be the #4 seed by beating Nevada or if Hawai'i loses to San Jose State. Tech and Hawai'i split, but Tech beat Fresno State twice while Nevada beat Fresno State just once.
So Tech will play Hawaii in the first round regardless of tomorrow's outcomes:

    - The winner of Tech/Hawaii will play Fresno.

    - The loser of Tech/Hawaii will play the loser of NMSU/(Nevada-SJSU winner) in an elimination game.

The 1 and 2 seeds have a huge advantage by getting a first round bye. They will be able to throw their aces against the #2 pitcher from a lower seed. Also, it looks like the winners of the first round games are at a huge disadvantage compared to the teams that lose in the opening round:

    - If Tech beats Hawaii, then Tech has to throw our #2 pitcher against Fresno's ace, and if we lose to Fresno, then we would play in an elimination game with our #3 pitcher and depleted bullpen against Nevada/SJSU's #2 pitcher and a rested bullpen.

    - On the other hand, if Tech loses our 1st round game to Hawaii, then we play in an elimination game with our #2 pitcher and rested bullpen mostly likely against Nevada/SJSU's #3 pitcher and depleted bullpen.

    Is all that right?

The Cubs complex in Mesa where the tournament will be held is a nice ballpark... IF anyone gets an opportunity to travel out to Phoenix, LOAD UP on the sunblock and water. There's good shade at the ballpark and you should have a good time.
P.S. during spring training, the Cubs bench/dugout area is on the 1st base side and both bullpens are beyond the RF wall in the outfield.

Once we are out of the Nevada tundra (there is a reason they don't play baseball out there) maybe our bats will get hot again. We'll need hot bats and GREAT defense in the tourny. Our pitching is what it is (I hate that term).

I expect the kitchen sink to be thrown today. A win by Tech today will be a HUGE upset, but you just never know what can happen in a tournament.
