Come on, ULM. You're not even trying anymore.
I mean, Richard? Really?

Good hire for them
Sweet. Good hire for them. Hire back a former star player and "steal" a coach from mother lsu.
I'd say that taking into account the economy of scale, this is equivalent to our hiring McConathy. :icon_wink:
Disagree. I'm a mark for Richard. I think its a real good hire for ULM. From what I hear former Ouachita coach Casey Jones, who just took the Longview hs job will be back as the number 1 assistant to recruit the area. I always liked Richard, I thought his time was up at Tech and they had to move on but he can coach.
This just made their Dec 5 return game to the TAC very interesting - especially with the current state of our program
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
Good hire for them. Kind of a no-brainer.
Good hire.
Go back and look at Richard's record when we were in the Sunbelt. He will do a great job there, watch and see.

This is what I was getting at. I like Keith a lot as a coach, but I'm not sure ULM exhausted their options on this one. Basically the same complaint Juice has with Bruce VDV's hire.
"Ok guys, we're firing Orlando. Who do we want?"
"...Well, Keith Richard is a ULM guy and he did pretty good at Tech. What about him?"
"Yeah!"
"Championship"
And that's that. The thought process takes 5 minutes. He'll do well. Will need to find that one horse he always seems to attach himself to.
Well, since we don't attempt to recruit local guys, we may as well not start trying now. Casey Jones as his top assistant coach will get the locals for ULM. Richard was a good coach at Tech, but liked DFM said, never got the 2ndary guy to help the star (Millsap, Henderson, Meeking), but as Fox referred to, it was time to go at Tech. I feel like the water just got hotter underneath Coach Rupp's seat. Can't see Tech watching a FORMER coach at ULM do better than us. Pride & ego! He will be a good fit for ULM!
The reason ULM is in the shape they are in is because of stuff like this. You hire a search firm, then hire Richard. While I think Keith is a great hire for them, they certainly didn't need to spend thousands of dollars to get him.
