    D'Anthony Smith Impresses Del Rio

The headline on Jaguars News reads, "Rookie DT's impressive."

    And that includes D'Anthony Smith.

The article says "if the play of top draft picks Tyson Alualu and D'Anthony Smith in this mini-camp is any indication, the Jaguars' problems up front may be solved."

Head coach Jack Del Rio said Smith and other top draft pick Tyson Alualu "... are going to be real nice additions. They're active, disruptive, athletic defensive tackles."

Read what Vic Ketchman, jaguars.com senior editor, wrote on 05/03/10 about the mini-camp at http://www.jaguars.com/news/printarticle.aspx?id=8931

We need to forward this to the so-called "draft expert" Todd McShay.

It will be fun watching him make a name for himself in the NFL.

I feel bad for D'Anthony. He was not a reach when he was pick. However, since the Jaguars had reached for Alualu, another DT, at #10 in the first round, the pundits piled on them even more for picking another defensive tackle. I seriously think D'Anthony is going to be a case similar to Kyle Williams in Buffalo. Williams was picked in the 5th round in 2006, the same year the Bills reached for another DT (John McCargo) in the first round. Williams became a starter as a rookie in Buffalo and is coming off the best year of his four-year career, while McCargo has started one game in his career and made 11 tackles in 2009.
