    Some interesting WAC defensive stats

    from 2009 -

WAC Teams defensive Passing YPA for 2009-

    Boise - 5.7
    La Tech - 6.7
    Fresno - 7.1
    NMSU - 7.2
    Utah St. - 7.6
    SJSU - 7.6
    Hawaii - 7.9
    Idaho - 8.2
    UNR - 9.0

WAC Teams defensive Rushing YPA for 2009-

    UNR - 3.6
    Boise - 3.8
    La Tech - 4.3
    Idaho - 4.7
    Hawaii - 4.9
    Utah St. - 5.3
    NMSU - 5.6
    Fresno - 6.0
    SJSU - 6.1

I pulled these off of the NCAA website. We did well against both the run and pass last year - probably one of the best pass defenses we've had. If only we ran some offense last season, I think we would've done pretty well.

Why on earth did we only throw 8 completions at Nevada? We ran 32 times. :bigcry:

Statistically we did well last year. However, we had a lot of closs losses and a few blowout wins which skews the data.

I will be encouraged if we put up even close to those numbers without a 3rd round NFL DT on the line.

Actually, we did very well last year in competing in games that in years past we would have been blown out. We were competitive, we just couldn't close. We have never played lsu that close (unless you count our first game against them in 1901 or so). We played Boise well too. We just couldn't finish. Plus, we got beat by some teams that we should have whipped. Even those were close, though. All year it was like "we almost did it"........... Our offense just wasn't strong enough.

I sure hope the coaches can put together the offense this year. It all sounds great and the potential is there. I really want to see us light up the scoreboard. The defense will take care of itself. I hope I'm not expecting too much.

Our defense should really get to be known by some nickname. Pound hounds, junkyard dawgs, or something. A really get after it defense. Sack pack, Red Dawgs!

No, that is not statistical data. That is a record. Just to clarify.

And I explained why the record was bad in spite of the good statistics.

45-7 over NMSU is an example....

Exactly. I believe we out-gained opponents last year in total yards. We might've even out-scored opponents on the year, I'm not exactly sure.
