Forming an alliance with ULL does nothing for Louisiana Tech. If anything, it very well could hurt us. Let the separation continue. I promise, we do not want to be even remotely affiliated with either of these schools.
The culture in South Louisiana and North Louisiana is too different.

Screw UL-X. Let them do their own thing, and we'll do ours. I think our own success will speak for itself.
Dwayne used to repeat that old saying about whistling by the graveyard. Let's not get into this junk, because we have our hands full trying to position OURSELVES for a better geography. I'm not reading other conference fan boards where they are just BEGGING for LATech to join.
It really brings me back to reality when I read other fan boards and some of them taut that schools like Texas State and UTSA would be better additions than us. Folks we STILL have tons of P.R. work to do...
Fan boards may be all most have to gauge from but they are virtually a ZERO barometer of the consideratios involved in conference alignment. An incomplete list of considerations involved in conference affiliations involve, in no particular order of importance, budgets, academics, geography, history, rivalries, personal relationships (of AD's and conference commissioners), markets, perceptions, and intangibles (like the ability to bring a bowl affiliation).

Not at all. In fact, there are serious concerns and most distressing is that the greatest concerns regard Tech's internal commitment to do whatever is necessary to secure a respectable conference affiliation.
Working with ULL would be a plus if it got rid of ULM. It would help us establish ourselves as the premier program in North Louisiana. But the problem of working with ULL is that it puts us in the same category as them! Although were not that far ahead of them, we still do not want to be considered in the category as a belch team. We need to keep up what were doing right now,and that is fixing up all of the athletic department from the strength of the teams to modernizing our athletic facilities to marketing Louisiana Tech more and more. If we keep that up at a steady rate, there would be no need to work with ULL for anything.
Do you realize how that sounds? We need the help of usl to get rid of a glorified junior college 30 miles down the road! If we can't bury them with our own dominance in every category, then we aren't all that we think we are. We will not be respected if we have to resort to using usl to sink nlu.
