Thought he was waaaaay over-rated when he was at lspoo. Never saw anything worthwhile in him.
He has plenty of time now to hang out with his homeys and smoke dope. For those of you that say he has no talent around him, Terry Bradshaw went to the worst team in football in 1970, and he made them the best in just 4 years.
As much as I don't like the Tigers... going to Oakland does has its own problems. Their "commitment to excellence" is about 20 years old. They cant win and they wont win. Going there is a lose-lose scenerio. I will admit, that i am not and have not ever been a Raiders fan but seeing them fail brings a non reaction from me.
Here is an excerpt from a very good article on the situation:
When I asked a league source what Russell struggled with the most in Oakland, what part of his game, the answer was devastating: "Everything. Every aspect of the position,'' the source said. "If you had a checklist of everything you want your quarterback to do, he chose not to do it. He chose not to study, not to work out, not to be communicative with teammates, not to exhibit leadership, not to get himself into shape. And he struggled with accuracy, with reading defenses, with audibling. They almost had to run a sub-NFL-level offense with him at quarterback. It was that limiting.
