No fuss, no trouble. If so, then the MWC doesn't get raided, while the Big East will probably get whacked. We could be headed for an AQ swap where the Big East loses its AQ status and is replaced by the MWC.
Texas is not going to the SEC. That is a rumor started by a writer out of Atlanta. UT controls the whole state of Texas. There are more high school football players in Texas than any other state. Why would Texas want to join the SEC and invite more schools in to recruit their state. They already have that battle with OU. There is no advantage for Texas to go to Arkansas or Louisiana or Mississippi to play. They have all the recruits they need in Texas and they have more money than any other school. The Big 12 may not lose Nebraska or Missouri, either. Both of them recruit in Texas.

I agree, especially since reading the article from earlier this week that talked about the PAC10/Big 12(minus 2) TV deal. Being proactive is figuring out a way to make more money but splitting it up with fewer teams, not adding four teams to an already watered down conference full of deadbeats (Vandy, State of Mississippi, Northwestern, Indiana, etc)

That is what I'm thinking now, too. The Big Ten takes Mizzou and Nebraska, and the Big 12 decides not to replace them. Then the Big 12 (now 10) would play 9 conference games, just like the Pac-10. With their tv deal, each school in the Big 12 (10) would play 1 school in the Pac-10 so that every team from both conferences is guaranteed 5 home games and 5 away games leaving only 2 OOC games to schedule every year. And then the Pac-10 would kick the Big Ten out of the Rose Bowl to match-up the Pac-10 and Big 12(10) Champions.

Heresy! The most sacred thing in the world to the Pac 10 and Big 11 is their annual matchup in the Rose Bowl. They absolutely hate it when someone from another conference plays in that game. The almighty Rose Bowl was the reason they were late jumping on the BCS bus. They valued the traditional matchup over anything the BCS could offer.

I think Boise would be jumping too quick, but they may not have a choice. Too quick because no one is sure what is going to happen to MWC yet. They could get hit hard. However, I hand it to their conference for being PROACTIVE, instead of sitting around waiting to be raided. If Boise jumps and MWC gets raided, though, Boise could end up in a worse place.

Saying that, there is no way they can afford to turn down the offer. If they turned it down or try to delay their answer, the MWC would withdraw the offer and not invite again. It is all still a gamble.

Fresno, Nevada, Hawaii, and Tech are all screwed. As for getting into new conferences, the Mountain West and PAC 10 are the only hope for them , and CUSA is our only hope. The MWC and the PAC 10 don't seem interested in Fresno, Nevada, or Hawaii and it remains to be seen if CUSA has any interest in us. Making matters worse is the fact that there are no west coast schools that could be added to the WAC that would make the conference better. The only hope for the WAC's future is expansion east. I don't know if that is a viable option either at this point. The WAC may be all but finished. Either finished or relegated to Sunbelt status.

But then the Big 12 couldn't have a conference championship. I see them expanding if they get taken down to 10 and then of course probably 9 with Colorado headed to the PAC.

We ALL knew this was going to happen. Don't panic........ It is WAY too early to guess anything. Everything is behind closed doors until something is pretty much decided. This is the first drop of rain. I know that are are behind those closed doors, as well, and really believe that all of this is more of an opportunity than a threat.

I bet Arkansas is already talking to the Big 12. When Arkansas was winning big in the SWC, 75% of their recruits were from Texas. They'd be foolish to turn down an offer from the Big 12. Their fans would love to be making trips to Texas again.

Finally able to listen...didn't realize it was stated so plainly. Makes me think it was a genuine leak. Some on the WAC board think Benson leaked to try and "get back" at the MWC. Could be a good way for Thompson (who actually has a clue...in stark contrast to Benson) to minimize defections. I'm not sure the MWC will see any defections if the Pac/Big 12 TV deal works out.

Sure would be nice for one of these rumors to go official...once that happens, all the dominoes will fall quickly.
