Eades from Northshore...West from Shreve only a sophomore...Creech from Airline who is a mid to high 80s lefty...and we missed on Alsup a few years ago when his brother came to tech
Well Creech can touch high 80s I have seen it on a gun and is going to LSUE as of now which is one of the best JUCOs in the nation and West has a brother who is 6 foot 8 and in the pros named Sean West...so we might ought not think about if he is a sophomore and go for him
You cant talk to him?
They also should have recruited Ben Carlisle and Clint Bickham from Byrd...their teammate Chris Cotton is playin for LSU this year...they took Byrd to the semifinals
Actually, Clements has struggled in 2 games, pitched decent in 3 games and was solid in 4.
It's not necessary for a pitcher to have a blazing fastball to be effective.
Probably the most effective pitchers I've ever seen personally was in 1973/1974 when I had season tickets to the AA farm team of the San Diego Padres, the Alexandria Aces. They had a pitcher named Randy Jones who had been drafted in the fifth round out of Chapman College (Los Angeles).
He couldn't throw over 80 mph but he had a wicked slider and he threw a pitch that dropped several inches when it got to the plate. It was very seldom that a hitter could get the ball in the air so there were a lot of groundouts. He seldom issued a base on balls. Randy could also field his position better than any pitcher I've ever seen. He needed to be able to field the ball well because he got so many chances.
In MLB Randy Jones won the 1976 Cy Young pitching for the Padres. Injuries shortened his career or he would have been one of the best ever. He was a charter member of the Padres Hall of Fame. He is currently associated with the Padres as a broadcaster and he was/is the host of a show on the Outdoor Channel.
