LSU-A is now a four-year school and they have started intercollegiate athletics. I know they have both baseball and softball, and probably hoops too,

Yep, like LSU-S, they are playing NAIA athletics in baseball and softball. Those are the only two sports as of now, though I think it's natural that they would add men's and women's basketball in the near future.

I know LSU-A has come a long way, and the university does a lot for our local economy here. Still, it's tough to justify since we have way too many four-year schools as it is.

You buy into the garbage of your own editorial board.

They take tax dollars, redistribute them, and very little goes back into the local economy. Yep, removing a ulm or McNeese from Monroe or Lake Charles would have an impact on the local economy. I'm betting the employment rate and tax revenues haven't changed much for Rapides Parish since lsuA was made a four year.

Probably not. One example is that most students commute 30 min to an hour to LSUA campus, and then drive right back to BFE after finishing class. This does nothing for Alexandria, especially since LSUA was built on the southeast side of Alexandria when the thinking was that Alex would expand that way, and it didn't. LSUA is now in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and Creech would have gone to Eunice even with the grades to come here. Lots of guys that want to play for LSU go down there, since LSU takes a few from there every year.
