    World Cup time!

The winner of Group C, either the US or England, will have an "easy" (relatively speaking) path to the semi-finals. There Brazil will likely be waiting....ouch! But, I hope the US can do it. The flip-side, runner-up in Group C will be cast into the road of death! whoa!

Not crazy about Bradley's 23. Young, and unproven, sums it up. I don't see it. Will be surprised to see the US win the Group, which will take beating England. Probably go thru in 2nd and get knocked out the next round.

Predictions, as of now (which I reserve the right to alter)

    England 2 US 1
    US 3 Algeria 1
    US 2 Slovenia 1

US into the round of 16...facing Germany, I think.

Anyone, I haven't heard what the estimated death toll is for this year's World Cup ..... I guess these figures would also include stampedes, rioting and not just your generally getting pitched !00 ft. off of level 5?

Soccer is a sport for third-world communist countries. Give it another ten years or so; then it will be the rage in the U.S.

I think we come through in 2nd from our group, but Germany is actually a good opponent for us. They have a ton of questions due to injury and some positions that have been questions marks for awhile now just becuase. I want to win the group, but this German squad does not make me say "oh no Germany" like some in the past would have.

    Re: World Cup time!

Okay....but as Group C runner-up we're cast opposite the likely (I say "likely" since upsets happen) line-up of Germany, France, Argentina. While the Group C winner will most likely be grouped with Greece, Mexico, and Serbia (again, barring upsets). HUGE difference in those groupings.

I guess Frankie Heyduk (sp??) is hurt, else why didn't he make the roster? Not surprised by Ching not making it, never saw that much in him. Beasley???? Don't get that one either.

The England game is HUGE, super-HUGE! What a difference that game makes in this tourney for the US. Win it, win the Group, and we have a great shot at reaching the Final Four, and a date with Brazil. Lose the England game and we're cast into the group of death! Er, provided we go through at all.

Gonna be super optimistic today, here's my Final Four:

    USA vs Brazil

    and

    the England-Argentina winner vs.

    the Italy-Spain winner

    Okay, I'll pick

    England vs. Spain

    That's today...I'll pick something different tomorrow :icon_wink:.

I just don't like sports that can end in a tie...call me old fashioned. If soccer ever does catch on, it will still be that "other" sport kinda like lacrosse.

Not just that they can end in a tie, but that they can end tied, 0-0!

    Re: World Cup time!

We play better as the underdog. I would rather play Germany, France etc and lose a game where we gave them a run than lose to Mexico, Greece or a weaker team, which is what I think would happen. That is just me. The one thing we have going for us is this cup isnt in Europe we play much better when we aren't in the old world.
