    Pitchers

How many pitchers should be released from their scholarship? Names?

    Re: Pitchers

I am much more concerned with finding a solution to all of the pitcher injuries we seem to have every year. If that means replacing the pitching coach, S&C coach or changing our workout shedule- please fix this coach Simoneaux!!!

Losing Anderson, Stefan and Meyers (last year and this) significantly crippled a very promising pitching staff IMO. Then losing Bradshaw for other reasons (the WAC's leading strikeout pitcher at the time) completely extinguished the life from this season. This is not an excuse, just an observation of some critical facts.

    Re: Pitchers

Barrett pitched well in two games I saw him in this year. Pitched well at UCA (granted it was UCA). But pitched pretty good at Arkansas after 1st inning.

    Re: Pitchers

So, that's 5 pitchers from the depleted pitching staff who won't return? And who knows how Stefan and Anderson will come back after surgery? Then we've got Meyers and Fairbanks who had surgery last year and didn't come back very well.

It's too late to nab top juco guys, so I guess next year we'll have to hear how "young" our pitchers are all year.

Most of the guys not returning contributed very little. We signed some good pitchers and are still trying to get a couple of more signed.

Experience, however, does count for something and it sounds like we won't have much. Maybe some of the experienced guys would have contributed more next year if they'd stayed. Who knows? I can only assume our coaches thought these guys had "something" when they signed them.

Several of those were not on athletic aid and not improved much as walkons, so not signed to any athletic aid. Few on scholarship didn't handle their business. I don't question names of those mentioned nor looking for a grassy nole conspiracy.
