Louisiana Tech could be a target of Conference USA as membership shifts in the eastern part of the country.
"It would seem to be a natural," Benson said. "We would not stand in the way of Louisiana Tech making that move."

This arse hat can't wait to get shed of us.

Yeah, wonder how the Big 12 and Big East feel after reading this? Both were (could be) sacrificed for the goals of the Big 11 and the TV network...

Wow......this guy is bashing religion as well as Baylor's acdemics. What an asshole.

The bottom line is, the Texas legislature is going to demand that Baylor be included with the other 3 Texas teams. And why shouldn't it? The state of Texas is in the enviable position to make just such a demand, and including Baylor will be just that much better for the state of Texas. The Texas schools would be foolish to NOT include Baylor.

Besides, there's no love lost between the state of Texas and Colorado anyway. :icon_wink:

For the record, the Univ of Colorado doesn't add anything to the new PAC 16. The Buffs pretty much suck in all sports, and bring NOTHING to the table. And Baylor's academics are certainly equal to UC's.

UT, TA&M and TX Tech would much rather play conference games "in-state" against Baylor --in front of all those Texas recruits-- rather than travel to Boulder several times a year for every sport.

I hope Baylor goes with Texas just because that is going to screw Boise. If the MWC wants to expand to 12 they would then take Colorado, Kansas, and K State before Boise.

That's how it will play out. But I would rather travel to Boulder, Colorado than Waco, Texas. The Rockies win out over the Brazos River.

edit: But maybe the Baylor women win out over the earthy, hairy colorado girls.

I know there are folks who subscribe to this theory, but I why wouldn't the remaining Big12 teams keep their BCS status and the money they have coming by adding teams rather than going to the MWC? Think about the Big12 MBB units alone.

I think the above is what has the MWC shuffling its feet now. Who do they lose and when?

I just wish we were in a position to be considered by the new Big12 or for that matter the new MWC.

I think if the MWC does it right then they easily gobble up the Big XII teams. Play it close to the chest so no one knows what you are doing. Invite 1 member at a time. And if BYU, Utah, and TCU make it known they aren't leaving (which all 3 would probably have to leave in this situation to make any of them want to leave) then the Big XII is screwed. Basketball schools like Kansas and Kansas State would much rather be in a basketball conference with UNLV and New Mexico as opposed to Houston and UTEP as well.

Also I'm not quite sure what the role is about holding on to BCS status. If you need a certain amount of remaining members. But the BCS status will more than likely go to the best available conference (or conferences if the Big East folds too) and the top one would probably be MWC.

In a situation where Texas, A&M, TT, Baylor, OK, OK State go Pac 10 (16) and Nebraska and Missouri go Big Ten, remember the Big XII has no basketball units anymore as they are down to 4 remaining members.

    Re: Realignment Daily Reading List

Here's why I'm probably wrong about the Big12 being able to stay together and keep the units. I think it takes eight...

    20.02.6 Football Bowl Subdivision Conference.

A conference classified as a Football Bowl Subdivision conference shall be comprised of at least eight full Football Bowl Subdivision members that satisfy all bowl subdivision requirements. An institution shall be included as one of the eight full Football Bowl Subdivision members only if the institution participates in the conference schedule in at least six men's and eight women's conferencesponsored sports, including men's basketball and football and three women's team sports including women's basketball. A conference-sponsored sport shall be a sport in which regular season and/or championship opportunities are provided, consistent with the minimum standards identified by the applicable NCAA sport committee for automatic qualification. (Adopted: 10/31/02 effective 8/1/05, Revised: 12/15/06)

I'm sure somebody else has already pointed this out. Is this correct? Too much stuff to read.:icon_wink:
