    BC$ payouts: MWC vs. WAC

    From the Boise newspaper:

The split is not even - TCU gets $5 million for qualifying for the Fiesta Bowl and NCAA men's basketball qualifiers receive bonuses - but that's an average of $2.94 million per school.
The WAC hasn't announced its distribution for this year. Boise State received $3 million for playing in the Fiesta Bowl.
TCU received more money than Boise State in part because it earned the automatic bid that's available to non-Bowl Championship Series conferences. Boise State received a less-lucrative at-large berth.
The Mountain West also gave TCU a higher percentage of its BCS payout.
The Mountain West's record payout was made possible by the Fiesta Bowl appearance and its consistent success in men's basketball.

Re: BC$ payouts: MWC vs. WAC

Boise State would have gotten more like $2.6M total after all BC$ distributions instead of $3M+ unless the WAC Board of Directors changed the rules. Boise earned $4.5M (not $6M) for getting a BC$ at-large bid, and WAC rules say 50% of that money goes straight to the participating team.
