NCAA To Announce Sanctions Against USC Tomorrow

The NCAA will announce sanctions against USC tomorrow as a result of violations by the men's basketball and football programs. According to a source, the sanctions include:
    1. a forfeiture of wins from at least the 2004 National Championship season
    2. a reduction of scholarships (maybe more than 20 scholarships overall)
    3. a 2-year postseason ban on the USC Football program
The basketball program had already reduced its scholarships, vacated the victories from the 2007-08 season, and banned itself from postseason play.

It looks like this may be a reason that Pete Carroll left USC to coach the Seattle Seahawks, since he had to know these possible sanctions would damage USC's ability to play competitively for a while due to the loss of scholarships and lack of postseason play.

This story will be part of a great Tech trivia question in 20 years.

Just goes to show you how stupid NCAA sanctions are, penalizing people who weren't involved and letting the ones who are responsible get away...yeah Pete Carroll, I'm talking about you! He knew exactly how this was going to go down and left before the crap hit the fan! I wonder how USC fans feel about him now?

I was listening to Mike and Mike this morning and they had Bobby Knight talking about this.

Ya gotta love Bobby. When asked what he thought about how the NCAA handled the situation, Coach Knight said: (paraphrase) "It took them 5 years to find out about this and do something about it. If the current NCAA would have planned the D-Day invasion, our troops would have landed in Portugal."
