The USC penalty is a game changer especially for Texas. The matter of playing on the pacific time zone where you don't get as many viewers east also worries Texas. Texas will not be going to the PAC 10. Texas in the PAC 10 while A&M joins the SEC would shift the balance of power in Texas to A&M within 5 years and Texas knows this. Texas will join the SEC or stay put in the Big 12. More than likely Texas will be joining the SEC with A&M.

With USC now getting hit hard, Texas can step in and be the ruler in their new conference. No competition for top dog. This all might have had just the opposite effect as what you are predicting.

    This just posted on orangebloods.com:

    http://www.texas.rivals.com/showmsg....id=902&style=2

Looking stronger that A&M is leaning toward the SEC.

Only thing left to happen today is Nebraska makes its announcement this afternoon. They have a meeting that start in an hour (1:00 CDT) where Osborne and the President update their board. Will take a couple hours to kick it around more than likely. The board is expected to vote this afternoon....in time to make the 5:00 news on the east coast if I had to guess, so expect their announcement between 3:00 and 4:00.

    2. A&M Regents (not all, but a lot) want the SEC.
    3. Texas isn't going to the SEC. Period. End of story. They consider it to be beneath them, academically.
    4. Texas has been trying desperately to convince A&M to accompany them to the PAC10....and now that posturing has turned to the Big10.

At the end of the day, I think A&M goes to the PAC10 with Texas. But not due to pressure....because inside they really want to be in the same conference with their historic rival.
Holy crap. The possible ramifications of A&M and Bama (fans) in the same conference just hit me. I hope Notre Dame doesn't somehow end up in the SEC, too. That much f'ed-up-in-the-head fandom all in one conference could open up a black hole or something.

ESPNnews just said that Texas is gonna weigh their options of staying in Big12. If they do than all four big teams in B12 south will stay and look for replacements prolly from MWC.

Chip Brown from OrangeBloods.com (Texas Rivals), who has been on top of all of this, just said Texas IS going to the Pac 10 and will not be staying in the Big XII.

Nebraska has applied for membership to the Big 10 and CU is gone to the PAC 10. So let's say Texas, A&M, TTU, OSU, and OU go to the PAC 10.

What happens next? Better yet, how close is Tech to be directly affected??

Tech, Houston, and a few others to the left over B12 with Baylor and the rest. AQ status awaits. :icon_wink:

    Not happening.
I'm just telling you. With Nebraska gone. It's over. They can't demand the big TV contract when renegotiations happen. There isn't another Nebraska out there waiting to join the Big12.

I starting to think that Texas stays. They must have told the MWC about it so they wouldn't be afraid of adopting Boise in thinking they may lose a couple of schools themselves. Slowly but surely the info on what's happening are start to leak out.
