Put your big girl pants on now folks. About to hit home.
If the mega-expansion doesn't happen we could be staring a worst-case scenario in the face:
A boise-less WAC with no spots open in CUSA

It's hit their website.
I'm wondering if Thompson hasn't been in touch with Larry Scott of the Pac 10 and Dan Beebe of the Big 12 and already knows what other moves are going to happen later today.
Texas is waiting on Nebraska. Once Nebraska announces, all hell will break loose. Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will follow Colorado. Texas A&M is weighing SEC versus Pac10. Kansas is the Pac10 backup plan.
Big East is talking to Kansas, KSU, Iowa State and Baylor.
SEC and Big 10 are the keys.
Maryland and Syracuse to Big 10 to make 14? UConn and ??? to make 16?
SEC takes A&M, Miami, ??? and ??? to make 16?
Does the ACC and Big East pull CUSA to make up the missing pieces?
I think Boise is going but it's similar to Colorado going PAC 10 prior to the other shoe dropping between them and the Big 12. The balance of the Big 12 is going to merge with the MWC.
Nebraska goes Big 10 today. Boise goes MWC today. Nothing else happens until next week. Will be lots of negotiations this weekend. Wonder how much will leak out.
I'm feeling a little better about our odds ending up in CUSA.

The official announcement
This quote confirms what everyone thought Karl Benson would do if Boise St. or other teams left the WAC:
"The WAC is keeping its options open, too, scouring for schools. Benson said there are five or six candidates from the Football Championship Series the conference is keeping an eye on.
However, Benson wouldn't elaborate on which schools might potentially be in the mix.
'Regardless of what the Mountain West might do, or Boise State might do, the WAC is going to continue to be a credible and recognizable conference,' Benson said."
The only thing this means to me is that the MWC knows they are going to lose some teams, so, they have replaced one of them with Boise. They stand to lose at least 3 teams if Nebraska goes to the Big 10 and the rest of the conference stays together.
Let's hope BVDV and DR can pull something off. I don't have a good feeling about this.
