Scout's analysis of the Boise State to Mountain West deal. It brings up some interesting points that Boise and the MWC might have jumped too soon.

The MWC didn't jump too soon since it is clearly a defensive move.
The longer Texas remains null about moving the worse it will be for the MWC.
If Texas decided to keep it's kingdom and then new Big 12 would be Texas' kingdom, and Utah, BYU, and or TCU might be gone
Texas is staying put. The evidence is there.
1)MWC takes Boise because it knows it could lose two.........they'd still have eight schools and basically they'd be minus ONE power schools since Boise is being added. I also wouldn't be surprised at all if MWC has a Fresno/Nevada contingency plan if 3 schools are poached.
2)Can't get away from BVDV saying "few institutions and even FEWER CONFERENCES". HE thinks that the big moves have been made Nebraska/Colorado/Boise departures.
3) SEC so quiet?
4)No action being taken on Missouri by Big 10
5) Big 10 seems satisfied now.
6) Texas Legislature is way more influential than anyone thought. When Baylor was threatened to be relegated to MWC or CUSA the bullying of the Texas government was effective.
The potential movements have been a relatively well kept secret up to this point but there are small leaks appearing here and there.
How's this for a prediction?
IF Texas stays put and rebuilds their kingdom...look for Arkansas to jump
As I said it's all dependant on Texas, but as goes Texas so goes the Big 12
I think this is a fair assesment of what could go down. If so, Boise is the one that jumped too soon as it could have replaced Colorado. Arkansas has always wanted to go back to their old stomping grounds with A&M and UT. There would have been your Big12. Texas playing on the West coast would hurt them more than help. Only USC is impervious to the Pacific coast time zone. I know they would only have to do it 50 percent of the time, but its not worth it. We may not make the Big12 but should be in a comfortable situation when a few more small dominoes fall.
Chances of Arkansas to big 12 were slim before all of this mess started. They are 0 now. Even if Texas said they will stay in the big 12 for 100 years even if everyone else leaves. The SEC, PAC 10, and Big 10 are the only stable conferences right now. No one is going to pull a team from any of those conferences. Arkansas will not piss off the SEC for a Big 12 that is on shaky ground at best. All of the Arkansas to big 12 people should officially give up. That ship has sailed.
Agreed. There is way too much money to be had in the SEC for Arkansas to do something stupid like that. The SEC is the only conference that could theoretically stay put and still be the best conference. Four straight football national champions is all you need to look at. Arkansas would never leave that. No way. Not for Texas and A&M, they've already left them behind almost 20 years ago.
