The NEW Big 12

Here's what NEEDS to happen:

Baylor, Iowa ST, KSU and Missouri should stay in the Big 12 for now. (Kansas will go to the new PAC 16, filling Tex A&M's spot, who will separate from Texas and go to the SEC.)

Those 4 remaining Big XII schools should add the following:

UTEP
SMU
Rice
Houston
USM
LA Tech
Tulane
Tulsa

There you have it. A darn fine, Central time zone, conference with GREAT geography.

TCU doesn't want Baylor in the MWC, so this is Baylor's best option for now.(See link here: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...s.20b625e.html

It's also the best option for Iowas St, KSU & Missou.

When Missouri finally leaves for greener pastures (and they will), simply substitute UNT --with their new $100M stadium-- for Missouri.

Here is my assessment.

A BCS AQ University is not gonna be on the lookout to help LA Tech or Tech's peers (SMU, UTEP, Tulsa, North Texas, Rice, Tulane etc....) in anyway.

Hell - these schools do not even consider you as their peers (SMU, Tulsa, Rice, Tulane etc.).

If you guy's think this to be the case, you are going to be very, very disapointed.

Dude - it works the other way around........not the way your heart is thinking.

These schools will look up to better themselves by looking up, not down.

The good news is, we only need ONE (1) spot in CUSA, or the Big 12. And if the numbers fall right, we're in. Is it a challenge? Sure. But that's the biggest difference between LA Tech and ULL: We've already successfully shared a conference with SMU, Rice, Tulsa and UTEP. At least we've got a chance. :icon_wink:

We (our peers and you La Tech) are gonna be left holding a bag that will be full of nothing at the end of this, regardless if you align yourself with the Sunbelt, CUSA, WAC, Big 12 Leftovers, MAC or some new conference. None of these new proposed conferences will mean anything. We will all be on the outside of any playoff etc....

They will reclassify us all anyway.

Maybe this should be Tech's focus rather than membership in a new non AQ conference (same as your always have been...a non AQ conference).
What will that get you?

Here we are getting Texas Media in a NCAA Regional to reference us as Louisiana, UL in the entire regional, PA Announcer, Media Guide, AP Box Score etc.......as well as many other major publications and you do not see one Cajun fan screaming we are it.....need to be in a BSC leftover conference etc etc....because we know that is not a possiblilty and I just laugh at you guys wishfull thinking.....

No I'm 100% positive that there is no University of Louisiana. There is a University of Louisiana at Lafayette which is ULL, but the only UL that I know of is University of Louisville. I am glad you found an article, but UL is not located in Louisiana.
