Re: A&M tells Pac-10 no thanks!

    Information is false.
Chip Brown is nothing more than a sock puppet for the Longhorn program. He says what they want him to say.
Truth is, the Ags have NOT turned down the PAC10 offer (confirmed by well placed sources).
The Longhorns have been leaking stuff through Chip Brown all week to try and pressure A&M (the only pawn they don't control). This is no different. They want to force A&M to reveal their cards.
They've tried the 72 hour deadline....didn't work. A&M called their bluff.
Tried the "we wont play you anymore" routine....didn't work.
Tried the "blame A&M for the split of the South teams" in the media.....won't work.
The truth is that A&M was very close to sealing the deal with the PAC10 before the Longhorns started trying to pressure them.....but when they played the "we won't schedule you in any sports anymore" card....it gave ammunition to the few Regents/Power-brokers that were fighting for the SEC. Now the gate has swung to the SEC side, because A&M will not be pushed around by the mighty longhorns.
Wherever they go, it will be on their own decision makers.

I say, good for them. Its about time somebody stood up to those A-holes in Austin.

I found this quote from him on the day before Boise left:

Benson said he is confident the WAC will survive and thrive should Boise State leave. "We've been planning over the course of the last several weeks should something happen," Benson said. "Despite what happens, the WAC will continue to be a credible and recognized conference. We have a great foundation of schools."

Benson said the WAC is prepared to replace Boise and possibly even expand the conference. "We have a long list of potential members," Benson said. "Our vast geography, from Ruston, La., to Honolulu, provides us a lot of options and opportunities. Ideally, we'd like to be able to constrict our boundaries and make them smaller. But we would certainly not rule out the possibility of 12 teams and two divisions that would take into account the central time zone."

Ark.makes way too much money in the SEC to go backward and have the high travel to the PAC 10 just to play Texas. I don't see it.

You knew they wouldn't leave that door unopened!

Move the Oklahoma schools to the north, then add Ark and one more to the south!

BIG XII trying their best to keep things together. No more expansion possibly? PAC may take Utah, BIG 12 may stay at 10, and we continue to wait for the Big 10, who is now at 12...all they really needed to begin with.
    So......

The Big 10 will have 12 members......

And the Big 12 will have 10.

    Right? :icon_wink:

It would take some mighty big guarantees to convince Arkansas to leave the SEC for a dying conference.

I just don't see that happening.

Re: A&M tells Pac-10 no thanks!

If A&M did tell the Pac 10 no, they better make sure that they are not left standing when the music stops and find themselves "homeless". IF the Big 12 is going to dissolve, it will find that some of its teams will be left homeless and to fight for themselves...
As far as a comment from earlier, yes, from the start of this entire process, the Pac 10 has wanted Colorado and Utah. They want the Denver and Salt Lake tv markets. Adding schools from Tx or Ok is just gravy on the top. With the tv conracts coming up in a year or so, the Pac 10 gets to add two rather large tv markets by adding Colorado and Utah (and thus avoiding BYU and their scheduling nightmares).
