The Big 12(10) and the Big 10(12) are settled (maybe?). Pac 10 (11) needs a new member (maybe?). BE and ACC haven't done anything except dig their fox hole a bit deeper and staying down. MWC picked up 1. At this point, 3 schools have moved. Much adoo about nuthin'??
I think everyone is waiting for Texas to make it's move. After they announce to stay in the Big 12 I think the Big East and the Big 10 will look to expand. I think it's far from over.

How would Big East expansion work when they already have 400 basketball playing members?
Split, add 2 (is 18 THAT much more monsterous than 16?), or invite someone who'll play as a football only (ECU would GLADLY do that). A week ago, the BE was a breath away from destruction. I doubt their members will allow the conference to do nothing when a few moves would greatly increase their stability and long term viability.
And again, memphis is bringing some deep pockets with them.
Honestly, if a spot opens up in the east, this is the BEST possible situation for Tech. The landscape has changed, but not nearly as drastically as predicted. We still have time to get our house in order before more permanent changes arise.

If the Pac 10 takes Utah, what are the chances that the MWC will seek out UTEP? Seems that UTEP would actually take away any advantage of adding Boise. Who is the likely replacement for UTAH should they be taken?

They will not expand.
I don't know that Fresno is ahead of Nevada and UTEP. I think there's a good chance that the MWC won't add anyone. Unless they think Houston's recent success could boost their BCS chances.
The movement that will benefit Tech is more likely to come from the Big East.

He doesn't think the BE will expand.
I agree with you, how can they NOT expand. If they just add 2 they increase their odds of survival.
MWC will stay at 9, just like they did instead of inviting BSU. If you don't improve their AQ chances, they don't add you. They added BSU because they knew they were going to get poached.
When this all settles down, there is no doubt in my mind that some kind of way Thompson learned what Texas would do way ahead of time. I think the media has been two or three days behind the "shake-up" all along.
The unattributed media is not way behind, they are way off. How many times did we hear reports like Texas is going Pac 10, Texas is going to the SEC, Missouri is going to the Big 10, Texas A&M is going to the SEC, this is done that is done. Nothing is done!
Nobody can wait to consume rumor. Eventually the story and the rumor get jumbled together. ESPN, Fox, etc. are no better than a message board.
