I would hope Dykes has the connections to pull off a TX Tech. I'd love that.
Are we sure there will be an opening? Man, I would LOVE it if we just left the Boise hole unfilled...
Everybody seems pretty booked in 2011 and 2012. Looks like Texas Tech has a spot open for both years.Texas Tech OCC:
2011
9-10 @ TCU
9-17 New Mexico
9-24 Nevada
2012
9-15 @ New Mexico
I would try to get home and home with any Big 12 team I would revisit with
Baylor and Kansas 1st since they offered when JO was AD. Iowa State, Kansas State
and Texas Tech would be next. I see this hold on expansion as opportunity for Tech
to continue to grow following from winning and TV exposure. It also may mean that
the BCS will continue vs 3 or 4 Super Conferences. Be ready for next round if CUSA
spot does not open up in near future. I still think CUSA would be more efficient if
14 teams vs 12 so less travel and operate Divisions more like conferences like PAC 16
had in mind. In football only 2 crossover games vs 3 and much less in basketball,
baseball and softball.
CUSA already plays divisions. A 14-team conference would need to play 9 conference games to maximize cross-division games. Otherwise each team would only play once at the other division every 7 years. With 3 cross-division games, a full rotation would happen plus 1 game every 5 years.

IMO, we should simply continue scheduling CUSA teams.
