Well that would change things...
Rumor hit the Memphis board earlier today. There is going to be a conference call tomorrow amongst the BE members. Supposedly a vote will take place.
Let's hope there's fire to this smoke.

I hesitate to start holding my breath on this.
Hope for the best, expect the worst.
I don't believe it. The Big East doesn't look like it's going to get raided... for now. They can get those schools whenever they want. By adding 2 teams they would still have an unbalanced football schedule.
Would this mean that the basketball schools would split to form their own conference? Would Memphis and UCF put the Big East in danger of losing their automatic bid with their awful football programs? Why add more mouths to feed when neither brings in any money? Unless they are taking FedEx's bribe...
A couple of bad things about this:
1. Memphis and UCF are EASTERN CUSA teams. CUSA could pick from among Temple, FAU, MTSU, Miami (OH), Ohio, Troy, FIU, and Navy, to replace two Eastern teams.
2. The WAC is sitting with only 8 members right now. Would CUSA want to be the "bad guy" that destroys the WAC?
That's where you're wrong. There is no way Banowsky would provoke that type of chaos onto another conference if he didn't HAVE TO. This is where we would need Benson to actually contact Banowsky and tell him to help him unload Tech so that he can get a more regional conference.
I don't think CUSA has a "west" list and an "east" list. The conference currently has 8 teams from just east of the Mississippi and over. The conference is moving toward Texas.
