Don't points 1 and 4 against the WAC contradict?

Re: UNT: The case for & against the WAC

Right now I would love for UNT to join the WAC. I agree with most of the reasons presented in the article. Having North Texas as a travel partner would reduce our need to get out of the WAC a little bit. NT could easily be left in Techs spot as the outlier in the WAC if Tech got a bid to CUSA and NT didn't though.

A year ago this would have been a great move for North Texas. Now it is a very risky move. There is no telling what our conference payout will be once Boise leaves.

I think it would be more palatable if it was a whole East WAC thing. Perhaps with UTSA, Texas State, plus a few more to help with the travel costs.

I don't know if it would be best for Tech, because it would give legitamacy to another DFW program. Then, if SMU is taken by the Mountain West or a Big 12 leftover conference expansion, it may put our next move at risk.

I agree...... Plus, I just don't see what North Texas adds as a football team or name draw.

Also, it is very risky for North Texas. Why would they want to join, when they could be an outlier by themselves. Of course, they are a little closer than we are to the rest of the WAC teams. It would certainly up their status.
