Being POTUS is apparently a cushy job

Obama takes more vacations than anyone I know.

Hey, y'all elect me president next time around and I promise that my doing nothing will make most of you happy. That would be my platform - "It could be worse"

Actually, the Klintons set the record for frivolous travel while in the WH. The obamas would have to really get after it to match the frequent-flyer miles set by hillary and chelsea on their world-wide romps.

Still, the economy was a little better during most of Klinton's regime. Makes one wonder how obama can justify any luxury travel on the backs of taxpayers given how much he has wrecked the economy.

This says his frequent vacations are frequently interrupted. Poor baby..:bigcry:

I get about 10 days off a year, inclusive of holidays. Most of those days are spent in the car driving to or from Louisiana. Last day off was December 26, 2009.

My job is not as important as POTUS, but people still rely on me to get things done when it is needed.

Again, it seems we have different realities depending on our political views.

The modern President -- be it Bush or Obama -- carries the office with him.

No. I think Bush took too much vacation too.

Those vacation numbers for Bush include weekend trips to Camp David. And trips to the Crawford Ranch. These were usual word days, not golfing and shopping excursions.

I encourage Obama to take more vacations. And his advisors and cabinet as well. Take Harry and Nancy too.

Re: Being POTUS is apparently a cushy job

From the Factcheck quote of the CBS report:

It’s worth mentioning that President Obama has also made 11 trips — all or part of 27 days — to Camp David, the presidential retreat in Frederick County, Md. Knoller, however, says he doesn’t count trips to Camp David as part of any presidents’ "vacation" time. But for the sake of comparison, President George W. Bush, made more trips to that country residence than Obama. According to Knoller, Bush made 25 trips — a total of 78 days — to Camp David in 2001.
We need to have fixed standards, not moveable standards depending on who is in office. Bush's actions don't excuse Obama's nor vice-versa, but to proclaim Obama the "vacation champion" when that is not backed up by facts or to develop our own standard of which days count as vacation serves no purpose. Skewer Obama for his many violations of the things he promised if you want, but there's no point in grasping at straws. That just weakens or at leasts casts a bad light on legitimate criticism.

The bottom line is whether it is perceived the WH occupant is getting the job done or running from it. The perception and most likely the reality is a community organizer can't cut it in the WH.

    Not even taking into account he's a socialist, he's not a wart on a leader's a$$.

I couldn't care less about the vacations if he did a good job otherwise- unfortunately he doesn't.

"I will not rest until XXXX is corrected." How many times has POTUS said it?

With U3 unemployment still near 10% and U6 unemployment above 16%, purely on a perception basis, POTUS should limit the vacations, etc.. He should be focused on getting the economy going, not reducing his golf handicap.

Absolutely! Today the POTUS is never out of touch with things or situations that may arise. They can manage from anywhere. It is how the POTUS manages things that is the issue.
