Cowboy WR Dez Bryant refuses to carry Roy Williams' pads after practice

Dez Bryant refuses to carry Roy Williams' pads after practice

So...another cowboy that thinks he's better than the team?
Is this a non-story or is there a little trouble brewing in Dallas?

Williams gave his pads to Bryant after Sunday's morning practice, but Bryant declined to carry them. Williams threatened to go to "step two" when talking to reporters.

"I'm not doing it," Bryant said. "I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player's pads."

"If I was a free agent, it would still be the same thing. I just feel like I'm here to play football. I'm here to try to help win a championship, not carry someone's pads. I'm saying that out of no disrespect to [anyone]."

Totally agree with Bryant. Roy Williams is a piece of crap and not a true Cowboy. If Barber or Romo asked him......which they wouldn't, I bet he would have carried them.

This is Roy Williams the WR, not the former safety......

Props to Dez....he will take Roy's position anyway!!!!!!!!!

That's not the way it's done in the NFL. Bryant will catch hell for this from his teammates even though the media might not report or even know about it. He could be another TO in the making.

Jerry's in there talking to him right now about how important it is to be a part of the tradition and the team, etc.

Re: Cowboy WR Dez Bryant refuses to carry Roy Williams' pads after practice

Again.....it was Roy Williams. Dude has been crap in the NFL. He 'became' a Cowboy last year. Doubt Williams is a Cowboy next year. I am very aware that things are 'done' this way in the NFL, I just find it humorous that Roy Williams tried to force a rookie to carry is pads, and the rook said NO!! That is classic. At least the rook can catch.

I do not see this as a TO issue at all.

But hell.....I am just glad we are talking about something other than a former Duck.

Over the past decade, many teams have strongly discouraged their veterans from hazing rookies. The Titans are one example. Jeff Fisher has openly said he wants his younger players focused on trying to get better in order to help the team win than having to deal with hazing. Sometimes the hazing can get out of control. Anyone remember this:

    Please -

I'm about as anti-Cowboy as there is and love to poke fun at them whenever I can, but this is bordering on a sickening obsession...

Dez is probably better than Roy Williams...But dude should have picked up the pads. Its part of being a rookie and its called respect. Nice way to rebuild that rep Dez.
