I know I've seen this discussed before but I don't feel like looking it up. What are the downsides to plasma tvs.

Anybody have any info on the best brands for an LED TV? We're looking at an LG and an Insignia, which I believe is an offshoot of LG. I really like the Sony Bravia, but I'm not willing to spend that much more money. Any recommendations?

Panasonic plasma is the way to go now that Pioneer is out of the business.
Samsung makes SONY LED screens.

They do get hot, they have somewhat more glare, I wouldn't worry too much about burn-in (unless you keep it on a channel with a ticker 24-7). They also tend to be somewhat heavier for a given size. Old ones have a shorter lifespan, too, although the newer models usually are good for 100,000 hours to half life.
I think he meant the Plasma TV business.
I bought a Samsung Plasma over a year ago (much less than the LCD TV's too) and had speaker problems with it, but Best Buy came by the next day and delivered another new one. Since then, no problems and the picture, especially for sports is as good as it gets....as good as the Samsung LED in my opinion and other LCD TV's. No problem with burn in and if I do, there is a feature that "erases" the burn in. I've had the TV for 1.5 years and have not had to use it. On HD movies and channels, it's as real as being there.
I don't think you can go wrong with Sony, Samsung, or Panasonic. I actually have 2 Toshiba TV's and they are not bad for the price I paid. However, I will save up for one of the other brands next time.
